Cross-universe Studies

Ever since his return to Atlantis, Daniel Jackson has been busy. The news that multiple universes exist and can be accessed comes as a surprise to absolutely no one in the base, even without any proof from the general or his guest, so there is little resistance to setting up a designated PINpoint area. Of course, given the immense tactical weakness of a free-for-all teleport zone, they've installed certain precautions to keep it from being used by any enemies as an entry into the base.

Samantha Carter and Rodney McKay have been hard at work, taking apart and studying spare PINpoints that Daniel brought back with him, and designed a sort of anti-PINpoint shield that makes it harder to enter uninvited, much like the iris on the Stargate. And, as with the iris, access through it is only granted with the use of a code transmitted through the portal.

Daniel's personal code is read and accepted by the main Atlantis computer, and a gap in the shield opens up in one specific room on one of the otherwise inactive pylons, far from the center of the facility. A pair of guards stand watch over the room, weapons trained on the portal until they recognize who is coming through, just in case.

comments

Searching for Atlantis

Daniel takes a step back and looks over his work. Several dozen padded, hard-shell cases, packed full of supplies. Ammunition, food, clothes, and the like. Things that the Atlantis expedition either can't make themselves, or simply don't have access to, in the Pegasus Galaxy.

There's only one problem.

When the expedition first went through the Gate, they took far more than this with them. But they had Field Remote Expeditionary Devices (FRED, for short), supply robots capable of transporting tons of material without need for a human to carry them. Daniel doesn't have one, and he's not sure how far he's going to have to transport these supplies once he goes through the door.

All dressed up with nowhere to go.

He thinks about it for a while, as he stacks the crates closer together, and finally he makes his decision. Daniel sends a text message via PINpoint to his most recent contact. I don't suppose there are any spells to make things easier to carry?

comments
